A wastewater system malfunction created an emergency situation at a refinery in the Southwestern United States. Waste holding tanks threatened to overflow and contaminate the 23,000 barrel-a-day crude oil refinery. The waste treatment fix would take time and immediate action was needed to prevent environmental contamination and any damage to the refinery systems.
Rain for Rent deployed a solution to siphon off wastewater and keep the refinery operating at full capacity. Twenty steel 21,000 gallon tanks were dispatched to the site and filled by Rain for Rent pumps attached to the waste treatment system.
Once the emergency was contained, an additional 20 tanks were brought in to provide a longer term fix as repairs were made. The 40 tank pumping system rested on Spillguard containment berms to protect the environment from possible drips or spills.
The refinery was happy to learn that Rain for Rent’s responsive solution was accompanied by an unexpected cost savings compared to their past tank and pump providers. The refinery has plans to continue to use Rain for Rent for its future liquid handling needs.
